Just a not so good Mario Kart

This ain’t your kids’ Mario Kart anymore. It’s not your boring All-Stars Racing either. This one’s for the good players. You have to work with your teammates, be they AIs in Team Adventure or other players through online or alternate modes, if you want to come out on top. If doing solo races, you have to learn the tricks needed to leave your opponents behind, such as chaining drifts and mid-air stunts. A lot of the story challenges are indeed tough, but they’re also optional if you don’t think you can handle it yet, and you can always come back if you want to take them on. But doing them, you will learn the abilities each vehicle type has, what they can excel at, and you’ll learn the skills needed to handle the story better.
This game makes you get good, and anyone who says otherwise should go back to Mario Kart and stay there.

Sometimes I wonder if video game creators have lost touch and this game certainly makes me feel that way. I bought this for my kids (10-12) who are just starting to gain more and more interest in video games. I was expecting an arcade style racer with a little bit for everyone. Instead I found that some of the early levels (1-5 and 1-6 to name a few) would be virtually impossible for a kid to complete. In fact they seemed geared entirely towards an avid gamer with no consideration that it would cause kids to lose interest in the game very early on.
I mean I totally get that you don’t want to make a game that lacks challenge but at the same time I feel like there’s an opportunity to have different difficulty levels. In the race modes on the previous levels you get the option of 3 different difficulty levels which allows for users of different skill levels to still enjoy the game. However, once you reach 1-5 and 1-6 there is no option and you’re left with some super expert level that frustrates the average user.

This game is addicting! It’s so fun to play co-op with other people the team aspect is great. It really does play best when you’re with friends supporting eachother on the tracks.
I will warn buyers that like Mario kart this does not play the same (control wise) as Mario kart does. It does not use motion controls. The steering and gas are done via your control stick and shoulder buttons. So if you aren’t aware now you are(I bought this title not knowing this initially but I love it still).
