Amazing story, unique and well written characters, is definitely worth your time. My only gripe about this is that there is t much gameplay to speak of, but the story and characters are good enough to mostly make up for that.

This game does an excellent job of living up to its Elite title, rewarding fans of the original game and anime, as well as providing a great experience for newcomers. What distinguishes this version of the game is that unlike the original game(which had a very unique art style, but used stills) and most of the VNs on the market, this game uses animation assets from the anime to add some immersion and flair that keeps the player’s attention. This includes new animation built for character routes that weren’t detailed on the anime. The Switch package includes a short 8-Bit side story game, which is cute with good art and a good 8 bit soundtrack but is short and not very deep. The PS4 version has the better extra package imo, with a full-fledged side story VN that takes 10-20 hours to finish. However, the portability of the Switch makes it much more convenient and it truly feels like an interactive novel playing around going through the game. So if the extras are the determining factor, get the PS4 version. If the main game is, get it on Switch. Highly recommended.

It’s the anime converted into a visual novel. I haven’t seen a lot of new content compared to the anime so far, but it’s enjoyable nonetheless as a fan. The animated sequences are a refreshing take on the VN formula, and the switch version of this game comes with a little bonus game. Pretty cool.

An absolutely phenomenal story. I very quickly grew attached to each of the characters, and the story knows how to tug all the right strings because of that. However the most common complaint about Steins;Gate is that the story does take some time to get going. It’s like a rollercoaster- a long, slow buildup with an intense payoff.
That build up is necessary, imo, but I know some don’t agree with me.
As for my own personal complaint- aside from an occasional choice of text message, and the handful of story choices you make later, there really isn’t much in the way of gameplay. I enjoyed the experience in spite of that, though.

I never watched the anime nor played the original visual novel. So when I wanted to try out visual novels and heard good things about this series, I thought why not try this.
I loved this game so much and it got me hooked on Visual Novels!!!. I was a bit skecptical at first because I knew that visual novels didn’t have much gameplay which is why I originally didn’t invest in them much and this game had taught me that VN’s are their own unique genre of gaming because of how it’s presents itself as a interactive story. If you played telltale games or mass effect games, those are just visual novels with 3d models being used. It’s not the traditional video game but rather a novel in a video game format with, of course, visuals. It’s not for everyone but this VN is worth a try to see if the genre suits you and if it doesn’t, it still worth it for it’s magnificent story.
Overall this is a great game for those who’s want to get into VN’s like I did and the story will have you at the edge of your seat.
