   This arcade hitbox is incredible… It brought me back to my fighting game phase I had over a decade ago and actually using and trying this arcade controller felt like a premium experience you’d find at the old school arcade machines you could play on way back. The presentation of the product was a little poor, it just comes in a plain brown box and could use a major uplift if they intend to become a big hitbox-esque brand. It does come in a very hard bubble-wrap sleeve inside the box that keeps the actual product in perfect condition which is a huge plus. It also comes with an extra Kalih low-profile switch to look at or replace, but it’s nice to know that replacing the switches would be relatively cheap and you could even open them up and lube them for a more premium experience. The actual quality of the product is incredible. It’s hard to believe that this is a $90 hitbox as it features incredibly low latency, premium switches, amazing build quality and even a mini-LCD display that shows your inputs in real time for style points. It also comes with very sleek and premium rubber feet that you can apply to your liking. There’s 8 low-profile rubber feet that stick really well to a hard surface. If you do want feet to use on your lap, then you’d have to buy your own, but I don’t go to tournaments as I’m a pretty amateur Street Fighter player. The RGB on this hitbox looks so good in person… The entire product is just outstanding. Playing a few games of SF6 online was so sick and the entire experience is so premium. If you were torn between getting this version or the smaller one, I’d opt for the bigger one as it feels more natural to have a bigger surface area to rest your palms on. This product is just amazing overall. If you did want to open up the case for any reason, the screws on the back are very accessible and easy to take off. The glass-like surface feels so amazing and leaves hardly any fingerprints, not to mention, this hitbox has some weight to it! Overall, I’d absolutely recommend this, even for noob players like myself. It’s just so fun to use and looks/feels incredible. 100% worth the price-tag, if this goes on sale, then it’s a steal. Update: This hitbox clone continues to amaze me with the quality, I was able to upgrade to kailh silent switches that are only 2-pin and they work flawlessly, they are much faster in terms of response time and don’t rattle at all. The feel of the hitbox is SO much better, but you do lose some of the RGB effect since they switches aren’t translucent. This is a very customizable hitbox as it’s essentially a keyboard type PCB, so if your switches ever stop working, you can always fix this with ease! Amazing product.

   Play was neat, and the pad functions well enough, but I didn’t find it great for my setup. The large buttons just feel like too much spacing. Probably works better for stand-up arcade style setups though. Uses arcade button tops on low-profile keyboard switches. They switches are replaceable. They have regular cherry style stems with the round support surround. The microntroller is Raspberry Pi’s RP2040. The firmware is based on GP2040-CE project which is MIT licensed. Haute42 only seems to make their latest firmware available, and I did not see source available. I didn’t try it, but it appears customizing the GP2040-CE firmware would just involve noting down all the current settings in the web configurator then applying them back again. Labels are printed under the exposed acrylic layers, and the frost effect makes them hard to read, particularly in low light. The duplicated ‘up’ button in the thumb position is weird. I couldn’t get used to it, but I guess it might be worth learning for more serious players. Construction is a PCB sandwiched in multiple acrylic layers. Seems pretty solid. Creaks a bit if you try to flex it. The USB is not a normal host port, but takes a controller input. It seems to re-transmit any inputs as its own. You will see them reflected on the OLED display.

   This is an impressive gamepad! Very clever and exhaustively customizable. Plus, it interfaces easily with many consoles / machines. I tested this device on a Raspberry Pi 3 and Windows PC. No issues whatsoever with either. Also, in case you didn’t notice, the gamepad can be configured for claw grip or WASD (keyboard arrow key grip). It took me way too long to realize that. First, the material quality here is as good as it looks – very nice! The plastic encasing is very sleek, clean, and consistent. All lights, colors, animations, buttons, hotkeys, internal settings, and ports functioned flawlessly for me as well. I want to stress that the button action is very smooth and the drivers are fully plug-n-play. Also the preloaded button configurations are super intuitive and, even if you don’t like them, they can be easily customized – some just by unplugging the gamepad and holding a specific button when reconnecting it. The one page of instructions (poor English aside) is sufficient for basic purposes, but the really impressive thing about this gamepad is the back-end customizations! The “Web Configurator” blew me away. For more serious gamers (with moderate technical skills), there are adjustable variables for days. Many were a bit beyond my gaming needs, but they made me want to experiment with the gamepad more to find out. Check out the pics for a basic idea of some of the customizations I’m talking about. There were very virtually no negative surprises I found to this gamepad. The major customizations, although a bit complicated, were a very nice surprise. Regarding the peripheral USB, I’d hoped they integrated some really clever (but simple) options; I was half right. The USB port can be used for I2C and SPI devices. I was mainly interested in using joysticks and controllers. I was unsuccessful in getting an Xbox 360 controller to work in the gamepad’s USB port when it was plugged into a Rasp Pi. But, I am almost certain that’s due to the power restrictions drawing from the 5V Pi. I’m looking forward to using this gamepad for emulated arcade games, mainly on the Pi. It just feels right. I’m also hopeful the USB peripheral will integrate well with games that support mouse or joystick! TBD.

   Very affordable and nice leverless controller. I really like the customization this offers and how quiet the switches are for the default specs. I like the weight on it as well as it feels comfortable for lap play. I would recommend watching some tutorials on youtube on how to get the most customization out of it and how to tweak it to your liking. One thing I will note is to not use the usb c cable that is provided. In my case I would have issues where my leverless will stop working and hold a direction for some reason. No issues after using a higher quality cable. Have not ran into any other issues so far. Really great for the price and is a good option if you want a nice leverless for a fraction of the other options.

   I only recently started using arcade sticks in the past few years but I’ve always wanted to try a leverless (hitbox) controller just to see how it was compared to the standard arcade stick (and of course it looked fun!). Only problem, like most sticks, proper quality hitboxes cost in the hundreds and I’m not willing to drop that kind of dosh on what is essentially experimentation. So just like my first stick (Quanba Drone), I looked for a cheap alternative and came across this, and holy crap was I satisfied with this purchase. Nice responsive buttons (that felt better than the stock buttons on my Quanba), compatible with just about anything you’d need it to be (with a workaround for Play Station) and it allows for customization via slotting in art inserts (you can either order some online from sites like Focus Attack, or make your own with photoshop and a printer). And yes, coming from a semi casual at fighting games it feels way better for me to use this over the regular arcade stick ( I can even execute EWGF consistently in Tekken now too!). Build quality is pretty solid for the cost and even if you don’t customize it it looks pretty good. I can’t really think of many downsides to this controller; if I get anymore arcade sticks, while I wouldn’t mind using the standard arcade sticks, my preferred sticks are definitely gonna be leverless sticks like this one!

    Das Gerät ist perfekt um es auf dem Schoß auf der Couch zu benutzen. Es ist hochwertig verarbeitet, schwer und wirkt wie aus einem Guss. Der Tastendruck fühlt sich gut an und klingt angenehm. Durch die scjrsfen Kanten an der Unterseite liegt es fest im Schoß und verrutscht nicht. Firmware Update war in 5 min erledigt mit YouTube Tutorial über eine MacBook.

    Benutzt wird das Gerät an einer Xbox Series S mit einem Mayflash Magic-x Stick (Achtung das Gerät ist ohne den Stick nicht kompatibel mit einer Xbox). Das funktionierte problemlos mit Plug an Play – kein setup erforderlich.

    Für unter 100€ kann man hier eigentlich nur 5 Sterne geben.
