Love the design because it’s compact and, unlike other docking options, doesn’t require a separate charger.
However, it only worked for so long and then started working sporadically. Now it even causes sparks if you even barely touch it. So I’m looking for a different replacement.

Wanted a portable Switch dock and this looked cool (nice colors!). Wasn’t sure how well it would work but it was actually seamless. Tested it with an OLED Switch and a projector for some huge Warioware fun. Very easy to set up. Dock plugs into wall outlet / power strip. Supplied USB-C cable plugs from dock to the Switch. It’s not a long cable (1m?) but worked fine for this setup. HDMI cable (not provided) plugs from dock to the projector (or TV). Almost immediately, the Switch output video through the dock to the projector. Looked crisp and colors were pretty vibrant. It’s a cheap projector but certainly good enough for party games. Switch remained fully charged throughout gameplay. Got no complaints. Would have been nice to include an HDMI cable too but most people (well.. old gamers and tech nerds like me at least) usually have a spare HDMI cable lying around. For the asking price and considering it worked flawlessly, happy to give 5 stars.

This device works great as a charger but I could not get it to work as a dock for my duaghter’s Nintendo Switch. The instructions do not tell you how to use it as a dock and the print in them is very small and hard to read. I am new to the Nintendo Switch so it is possible I am doing something wrong but there are no troubleshooting guides included so I simply do not know if it is user or device error. I rated two stars because of the lack of instrutions.

Shortly after I received this, I happened to misplace the included USB-C charging cable. I did not realize for a while that it was a special cable – it’s not a regular USB-C charging cable, but rather a “Full-Featured USB-C to USB-C” cable. For the longest time, I thought the unit was a dud and did not work as it was not charging my Switch or passing video through. After a couple months of assuming this was a lost cause, I realized what the issue was and eventually found the cable that came with this unit. Once together again, everything worked as expected. I can now take this on trips and use it as intended.

As a portable option for the switch this one is looking good..so far. I have had others of these that broke after only a few uses, so I will update this review if the same happens. However, for NOW, it is working good. I tested this in my go-to travel option: a honda odyssey. This plugged into the DC outlet and was able to output to the rear entertainment system via HDMI. It worked on the first try with no fuss. I did NOT use the included cable, instead using a premium USB-C cable with 100W power transfer and connectivity and then an akiya-switch.com basics HDMI cable. It charged the switch and output video/sound as expected. Its small in size and will be easy to travel with. It will get a real workout in a month when I go on a 3 week trip. Will update if anything goes wrong. Happy traveling!

I got this for use with my Nintendo Switch. The charger that came with it is pretty heavy and bulky (usb C) with a brick plug in. It was also difficult to travel with the docking station, which is also bulky, so this little plug serves multiple functions and replaces the seperate need for the charger, docking station, and HDMI with this 3-in-1 plug that can also charge/power other devices such as phones, laptops, TVs, projectors, etc. I have a hard shell case for my switch, and this can be thrown right in and zipped up for easy transport. I also don’t need to search and mess with multiple cords for each device which saves a ton of space when traveling in addition to trying to find power sources for multiple devices. This plug comes with a standard double ended USB C cord, which is pretty short, so I will be using my own longer cords but overall I am pleased with this charger and feel that it is a great value when compared to having to purchase multiple items vs. what this charger can do by itself. Granted, most Nintendo Switch devices come with chargers and docking stations to use via TV, but they aren’t very travel-friendly.

The Nintendo Switch, a product designed around the concept of being portable drops the ball in this department in one way: The Dock. Sure you can play the N.Switch in handheld mode, but what if you are traveling and want to play on a big screen? Heading over to a friends and want to play some Smash Bros or Mario Kart? Family event and you want to play some Jackbox? Traveling for work and want to play on the TV in the hotel room? Well you would normally have to bring the large dock and power cable that comes with the Switch. This little guy solves that problem. About the size of an iPad charger, it fits nicely in a bag or pocket. It comes with a USB-C cable to connect the switch to it. HDMI cable (to the TV) not included. The device itself has 3 ports; USB-C for the host device. This can be the Nintendo Switch, or a smart phone that has USB-C. Even a laptop with USB-C. Then there is the HDMI port. It states it outputs at 4K 60Hz. What people need to understand is the Nintendo Switch DOES NOT run 4k. The max the Nintendo Switch goes up to is 1080 60Hz. Though the device says it can output at 4K 60 Hz, doesn’t mean it will make the switch 4K. I am unable to test another device that may output to 4k as I have none that can do that (such as a laptop). This device could be forward thinking though. If the new console comes out and has 4K, this device should be able to handle it. The last port is a USB port, for controllers. Haven’t tested it with a USB network adapter. I tested this connected to a 21″ 1080p monitor, and a 58″ 4K TV. Both worked great! The device doesn’t even get warm that I could find in my testing (20 minutes hooked up to the 4K TV). I will definitely be putting this on the list of items to get friends and family for Christmas. Great product, great quality build, and solves one of the Switches only problems.
