Great game, nice job SquareEnix but still think this kind of games need something insides besides the cartridge. It is kind ofsad to feel the box empty with just the game card.

This game is pretty amazing. It has a deep story but it also has some flaws, which is the pacing of the story and how short it is, in my opinion. It has a bit of the hack-n-slash like in the Dynasty Warriors games. Without spoiling anything, what sold me on this was the beautiful graphics. I can only hope Tokyo RPG Factory makes DLCs for this game—it does feel unfinished and rushed a little. Other than that, I really enjoyed the game and might seek out Lost Sphear and I am Setsuna to complete the TRPGF games (aside from Chrono Trigger).

Bought this online for he switch. The story kinda sucks. You are trying to save lost souls to go to the afterlife to be reincarnated. If someone dies, the living must not grieve because it makes the souls lost. Makes no sense. Then there are the set of parents that commit suicide to be with their dead son. So depressing.
The gameplay is tedious. The controls feel like playing on mush. There’s a slight delay and fighting feels like fighting in your dream where you try to run and it’s really slow like you are running in syrup.
The skill tree and items are poorly explained and seem to be added as an afterthought.
For 50$ it was a waste. I would avoid this one.

I really enjoy the world that the developers have creates. The story pulls you in, with a narrative that delves into the idea of a culture where reincarnation is a key element in their lives. You are tasked with making sure that those that have passed, are able to pass on to their next life without any hiccups. Its an awesome gaming experience to enjoy on the switch.

Sq’s review of this game is plain ignorance. Oninaki was made for the classic RPG fans from the 80s and 90s, so therefore the gameplay and story is something you would find from games of that time period. Do not review something based on your own ignorance of a beloved genre. If you love old school RPGs then you will love oninaki for what it is.
