Look, I love this game… and pretty much have never stopped loading up the original on my PC’s from time to time to re-enter the adventure. Even beat the main campaign again a year or so ago using the Enhanced Edition on PC. So, the core of the game itself is still great… but the port man… the control scheme is virtually unusable and it slows down at odd times, doesn’t fully load textures, just acts weird on the console. I can’t recommend it. Get the Enhanced Edition for PC (should even run on pretty old machines) and enjoy it as it was meant to be played… steer clear of this version.

Outstanding game. The graphics look great compared to my computer when this first came out. It is difficult and really makes you plan out your strategy for each conversation or attack. I really enjoy this old-school D&D game on my switch.

When I was a kid I had Neverwinter Nights. I never got the expansions but would stay up late creating characters and trying to save the land. Years later I thought it would be fun to finish what I started and the nostalgia would be a nice rush during this terrible year. I was super wrong. The game is laggy and weird. The controls are a trainwreck. It’s tough to navigate and I’ve stopped playing just out of sheer boredom since it can’t keep my attention. I’ve gone back to Breathe of the Wild.
Some things are not meant to be made new. It’s just OK.

What a fantastic port of a classic this is, it’s also my first d&d game on switch, so I’m excited to be playing through this once more.

This is a half-assed effort at “remastering” a classic game. For example, I cannot transfer any items to party members in the ‘Kingmaker’ module, meaning they will be unarmed and armored in the face of battle; I cannot even sell items in my inventory!
It’s also disappointing there were no efforts to “enhance” the game with graphics and mechanics from ‘Neverwinter Nights 2’, e.g., the ability to directly control another party member, which would’ve greatly resolved the aforementioned issue with transferring items.

It’s a fun nostalgia trip, but the controls can be kind of finicky.

Not the North American version as shown in picture
