   I love this controller because you can charge it don’t need batteries, it’s built in bluetooth so it works for all Switch models, PC and Android. It reminds me of the Super Nintendo controller!

   This is a beautiful and comfortable SNES-style controller. It works in PC as either XInput by default or as DirectInput if you pair pressing the pair button and the B button at the same time for 3 seconds. To reconnect in DirectInput mode press the sync button and B once. The only thing I don’t like about this controller is that the DPad is clicky, you can even hear the DPad clicks. The triggers are digital. Edit: After using it for a bit, the D-Pad and face buttons, apart from being clicky they don’t snap back up as fast as they need to sometimes, making them impractical for precision platformers or fighting games. Also, on Android, in XInput mode, the home button acts like the Android home button, so if you want to map it to some other key, you need to use DirectInput mode, but this controller in DirectInput mode has some serious input lag. Edit 2: I need to clarify that this was on an older android version, so it may just be the drivers.

   I ordered this Sriracha themed controller to be used with my Raspberry Pi 5 Arcade cabinet. It paired easily on the first try and the input/response time is on point. It’s a little beefier than the classic SNES controller due to having shoulder buttons and dual analog sticks. It’s light weight and feels good in the hands. The back of the gamepad has a slight bump on both sides providing a slightly more ergonomic grip than your typical SNES controller. A weird design choice was to have the top of the Y and X buttons curve inwards while the B and A buttons curve outwards. Not a deal breaker by any means. I just thought it was an odd choice. All in all I love this controller. I love it so much I ordered the HEINZ controller also.

   First off I bought this controller for mostly NSO games since I didn’t have anything with what I considered a decent d-pad and I think it’s good for that. However if you plan on using this on games that use low frequency rumble constantly like Mario Wonder then you’ll probably want to play with the rumble off. That’s because there’s only 2 modes mentioned in the manual, 100% power and off. Pick up a coin in Mario wonder the controller goes full blast. Other than that my only complaint is that there is no wake from sleep feature like I’ve had on other controllers so be prepared to get up off the couch to press the power button on your switch.

   I was looking for a pair of wireless controllers for my Red Nintendo switch I dubbed as my “Travel Switch” I saw this and I knew I found one of my Two controllers, after it arrived it was easy to sync it to my Red Switch without issues and I like the weight and feel of this controller, I know it has built-in rumble from reading the instructions and I made a joke that the controller is spicy and it’s a nice addition to my console or anyone’s console for that matter. Also, if you have Thumbstick covers for your Joycon control sticks, the thumbsticks on this controller are the same size.

   This Hyperkin Controller is the perfect accessory for gaming on the Switch, PC and Mac (can’t speak to Android functionality). The controller itself is just slightly larger than an SNES controller, and that’s because unlike the SNES controller this one has L1,L2, R1, R2 and dual analogs. The SNES controller didn’t have an L2, R2 or analogs. Button presses have a clickey feeling, where as the SNES controller button presses have more of a “cushioned” feeling when pressed. TBH, I kinda like the clicky response. It’s almost like going from a stock computer keyboard to a mechanical keyboard in terms of the way it feels. I’ve played for hours on my Nintendo Switch using this controller. Mainly in the NSO- SNES, NES, GBA and Sega emulators. Still trying to get the controller to work with my Raspberry Pi. The box says it works with RP but in my experience the troubles I have getting it to work there aren’t on Hyperkin, but on me being still new to the Raspberry Pi scene and knowing controller setup can require some legwork. The controller comes with a detailed instruction booklet which I highly recommend reading. There are key combinations that when pressed can help switch input types, modes and setting turbo functions. Don’t ignore the booklet, it has every thing you need to learn your way around the controller and its many functions. The box also contains a nice braided USB-A to USB-C cable (about 5 feet if I had to guess length). Bluetooth range is 30 foot, but I recommend staying line of site at 25 feet for best connection. For Switch users: – There are two buttons for taking screenshots and returning to the Home screen just like a normal Switch controller. – No wake from sleep functionality. – Works on Nintendo Switch games just like any Nintendo Controller – Works great for the NSO emulator library – There is a toggle switch at the top of the controller to switch from Bluetooth to Nintendo Switch mode. In regards to the limited edition design, I love Sriracha, and when I saw a Sriracha themed controller of all things I just had to have it. Such a weird pairing in concept. But it’s fun and unique. I will definitely be watching for their other limited run designs. The Huy Fong collab has this one (Two Roosters) as well as the Retro Pepper design. Personally I thought the Retro Pepper design was a bit noisy visually. I am also not a fan of icon patterns in design, so it’s really personal preference. I can’t recall ever using Hyperkin as a brand, but now they are on my radar and if this controller continues to perform without issues, they will be in the forefront of my mind when I shop. I highly recommend giving this controller a shot.

   Originally bought to be used with iPad mini 4, but cannot connect via Bluetooth. Controller is not detectable by it. The box it came in does not state its compatible with iOS. It can connect to my android phone. Will be testing on PC via Bluetooth for foreseeable future. I like the design and would rather keep it. That’s why I’m giving it 3 stars. Depending on performance, I will reevaluate at a later date. Update: Works well on PC via Bluetooth. Good battery life.
