   This game is FANTASTIC. It is easily one of the best games I have ever played. The story sucks you in and doesn’t let go. Square Enix consistently knows how to tell a great story… and they do it better than any other game developer out there. This game is no exception. You play as Maxine Caulfield, an 18 year old who is studying Photography over at Blackwell Academy in the town called Arcadia Bay. After witnessing the murder of a young girl in the women’s bathroom of her school, she finds out that she has unique time-altering abilities. It’s all a game of choice, your in game actions will have consequences both good and bad, and this changes the narrative of the game as you progress through the main story. Graphics are superb for the Switch, I only encountered one frame glitch as I was playing but I was also spinning the game camera around really fast and pushing too many buttons at once… so that’s kind of my fault. Overall it’s an outstanding port, you will not regret buying this game.

   I’ve got my copy back in October 4th, and just finished playing through the entire Arcadia Bay Collection at the time I’ve posted this review! I have also the remastered collection on Steam but my PC isn’t built to run them smoothly, so I’m happy they finally ported this over to the Switch, since I’ve just gotten my first switch console this year. I’m not obsessed with the quality. Since this is on the Switch, graphics and visuals aren’t as detailing compared to the other latest consoles, which is understandable. I’m just happy to be able to play this again, and while chilling on the couch without having to sit on my computer desk haha. I did encounter some bugs though on both games. It’s more on the graphics, but it didn’t affect my gameplay. I hope they can patch it up. Overall, not too bothersome. I’ve played this on both handheld and TV mode. I think it brings a more immersive experience if you have good speakers or headphones, since Life is Strange series offers the best music and sounds curated for each game.

    I loved both of these games, the playthrough was enjoyable though the queer aspects were a bit tame, but that likely has more to do with when it was made. I started with the cartridge game and then played the prequel. Just an FYI if you’ve never played before that these games (especially the cartridge) cover some pretty heavy topics that I didn’t realize going in. With that being said, I couldn’t recommend these games enough and True Colors (which features Steph) is an excellent game as well for anyone that enjoyed these and is looking for something newer.

    If you’ve played LiS before, then there’s nothing new. It’s just a graphical update to the game. Compared to the other systems, the Switch version is the weakest with visual issues and loading times. There’s also a really weird minor issue I ran into where the ending cutscene of episode 2 is skipped, so you’re unable to see the outcome of a significant event that happens right at the of the episode. Another issue I ran into a few times would be dialogue looping once after the initial conversation.

    It’s still a good game, just contains a few visual/technical issues, but you can still enjoy it the same as the other versions.
