Horgihugh And Friends Is nothing special, you’ll probably just play it for a short while, put it down and forget all about it until the next time you play. The music is nice and the graphics are decent but don’t buy it at full price. This game should be discounted at the e-shop or under 20.00 MSRP for the cartridge because you’ll get bored eventually. Still it is fun for a short while.

This is easily one of the worst designed shmups I have played in a very, very long time. Bullets and reward pellets are way too small. Enemy behaviors are erratic, with tons of cheap deaths designed into the game including the environment. The power up systems and shop mechanic are not well balanced and ill-timed, boss design is not thoughtful. Horgihugh itself flies erratically as well – there’s actually no satisfying element in this playthrough.
I am trading this game in at a loss for something else. Avoid making the mistake I made; avoid this game and buy any number of amazing shmups, such as the Cotton games or Darius games, Wild Guns Reloaded, R-Type . . . you have lots of great options other than this cart. This game makes most of the NES shmups look fair to play, and THAT is saying something.
