   First off let me start off by saying that I chose not to mark off any points for any of the issues I had due Linux. This product is not designed for Linux, it is not advertised to be compatible with Linux, and any problems I faced are purely my own for buying this over something that does advertise Linux compatibility. That said, I will be talking about my experience on Linux as Linux users often have to make the choice between buying a worse product that will definitely work, or a better one that will maybe work. First, let me talk about the controller itself. This is by far the BEST controller I have ever laid my hands on. It is extremely clear to me that every single detail was painstakingly refined to bring us this product. Everything from the looks to the physical build quality is absolutely flawless and I am extremely happy when I am using this thing. The grips are hard plastic and feature a texture similar to knurling that not only really grippy, but seems like it will help minimize the impact of sweaty hands (though I haven’t owned it long enough to say for certain if this is the case). As for the input, the sticks perform about as well as you would expect, but the feel of the sticks is really good. The edges of the stick cap are knurled so they are extra grippy and unlikely to slip in intense gaming sessions. The face buttons use clicky mechanical switches and they feel and sound exactly like clicking a mouse. In games I actually really appreciate this additional auditory feedback as in kart racers where you have to time when you start holding the gas, its good to be able to hear how far off you were. The D-Pad was my biggest worry and I can honestly say that I am relieved that this D-Pad is good. It is very easy to make a D-Pad that FEELS good and for most people that’s all they need to speak highly of it. It’s an entirely different challenge to make one that PERFORMS well. Most modern D-Pads I have used are too sensitive on diagonal inputs which makes certain retro games or fighting games pretty hard. With this each of the 8 directions have a noticeable click, and its hard to actuate a diagonal input unintentionally, even when you rock from 1 side to the other. Now on to the Linux section Let me start by reiterating that this DOES work… There are just a couple pretty nasty caveats. When I first got this controller, I saw that it supported both xinput and direct input and I assumed between one of those 2 that it would work. When the controller arrived and I go to plug it in for the first time it lights up in xinput mode… and then immediately turns off the light. I go around trying to follow the instructions to change the modes and it nothing happens at all. I then start poking around my system to try to debug whether the system even sees the controller and I end up spending 3 hours trying to figure out SOMETHING that would let me keep this glorious thing. Then later I found out that in order to change modes I had to HOLD the buttons as the controller is powering on and suddenly the first thing I thought to try turned out to be the solution. As for the “nasty caveats”, the only mode on this controller that works with Linux is Android mode. Xinput mode immediately shuts off after it powers on, I couldn’t figure out how to access the controller with direct input (though I didn’t try very long), and Nintendo Switch mode ACTUALLY FREEZES MY SYSTEM. To add to this problem, this is a wired only controller that realistically you might want to leave connected to your system at all time. The problem with that though is that for some reason during the bootup process the controller tries to boot into Nintendo Switch mode so I either have to have it unplugged when booting my system, or babysit the controller so it boots into the correct mode. Also while I don’t know exactly what is happening, I believe the controller is interfering with Steam’s ability to launch as well, so it is best to not even plug it in until Steam launches. Once you have it working it performs really well. You lose access to features such as rumble and gyro, but a lot of configuration features of the controller are accessed from the controller itself, so you get access to stuff like hair trigger mode, switching A and B and X and Y, and most importantly, programmable back buttons. You can also adjust the lighting to one of four modes (which is better than nothing) and you can change their brightness or turn them off if you don’t care about them. I do not have a windows machine to test if configuring it on windows will stick when you switch to Linux, but if that does then that would be great. Conclusion: Overall, if you are a Windows user, you are going to have absolutely 0 issues with this controller. It’s an excellent controller and supposedly the configuration software is pretty good. If you are a Linux user and you are OK with all the workaround you need to do to get this controller to play nice with your system, then physically, there is nothing that should prevent you from enjoying this controller. Though again, on Linux, you DO need to leave it unplugged when you aren’t using it. While I know that getting full Linux support is a lot to ask of any company, I would really like if GameSir at least tried to offer a bare minimum level of support for Linux (I.e. boots into a mode that works by default and not into a mode that hard freeze your system on boot). It is very clear from using this controller that the engineers considered every tiny detail of this controller and put a lot of love into polishing it to perfection, and I would love if future products by this company were more widely available on other platforms.

   I’ve had this controller for about eight months, and it’s been fantastic. The micro switches on the buttons and D-pad are excellent—responsive and durable. I don’t use the back buttons much, but I appreciate having the option if I ever decide to. The Hall-effect sticks help prevent drift over time, and combined with the micro switch buttons and D-pad, this controller is built to last.

   I’ve primarily used it on PC with Steam, and it has worked flawlessly for most games. Connecting it to the software and setting it up was straightforward so no complaints there.

   Now, you may have noticed I said had at the beginning of this review, despite all the praise. So, what happened? Gamesir released a wireless version of this exact controller (Cyclone 2), and I bought it as soon as it launched. I ended up giving this one to my cousin, who now uses it daily.

   All in all, you really can’t beat the value this controller offers with its Hall-effect sticks and micro switch buttons. Highly recommend!

   Disclaimer: I’m coming from a Logitech F510 Gamepad Rumble which finally died on me so my comparison is based against that controller. Ergonomics (see pictures) ============ For reference, I wear a size medium glove where my hand is approximately 3 3/4 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches long from my wrist to the tip of my middle finger. The controller fits quite comfortably for my medium-sized hand and it is light compared to the hefty one I’m coming from. The grips are slightly canted outward which makes it a comfortable position and the plastic on the underside is textured nicely. On my old controller my resting index finger placement was on the Left/Right Buttons whereas on this one it’s on the Left/Right Triggers which feels awkward and will take getting used to. The XYAB buttons are spaced more closely together which for some could be a positive, but for me, I wish they were spaced a tad more apart as it almost feels a bit cramped. The Start & Back buttons are placed awkwardly out of reach of where you would normally expect them. I wish they would have simply placed them to the right of the left stick and left of the X button and not diagonally above them at an angle. The D-Pad is a cross-style but I wish it was a round-style instead to more easily facilitate diagonal movement. It’ll take some getting used to as to its position since I’m accustomed to the joysticks being both on the bottom but it’s the standard Xbox controller layout to have the left joysticks above and the D-pad below now. It would’ve been amazing if they were modules that you could swap or had a different model so you could pick which you wanted as I prefer the two sticks on the bottom. The joystick tops are smooth in the center and raised textured around the edge which is good for traction but after a prolonged period of time you’ll feel your thumb start to feel a bit sore from the coarse texture. Once again, I feel like the tops feel a little small but this is a personal preference. I would’ve gladly paid a little more if the joystick tops were replaceable covers and they supplied like two or three alternatives tops to customize to your liking as I’m used to a slightly textured dome without the raised ridges on the edge. Buttons ========= All of the buttons are mechanical switches which feels different to membrane and have an audible click to them which is fine. These mechanical switches should last a long time as opposed to membranes that wear out sooner. Joysticks =========== Hall effect joy sticks which are smooth, return to center and hopefully never have to suffer from stick drift. One of the main reasons I bought this controller over others. They’re quite responsive and practically have a non-existent dead zone from what I can tell. Triggers ========== Right/Left Buttons are mechanical and the Right/Left Triggers are magnetic sensors which is a good thing. The travel on the triggers is pretty long and wish it came with customizable stops to suit to your preference. I suppose you could 3D print or mod it somehow but it’d be nice if it came with the support already to adjust it. Software ========== First, I downloaded the GameSir T4k App from the Microsoft Store and you get version 0.0.6 at time of writing which is broken and never works. Your controller will continually disconnect and reconnect and the app will never recognize the device. Since that didn’t work, I went to their website to see if there’s a more recent version and lo and behold there is (version 0.0.9 at time of writing). Once downloaded and installed, this version works just fine, the controller is recognized and you can then customize it to your liking. The app is perfectly fine and pretty intuitive. However, begs to question why they haven’t updated the MS Store version. Update: GameSir informed me that they’ve submitted the latest version of the App to the Microsoft Store but it’s still under review and they estimate it’ll be online within a month. Aesthetics ============ The top surface is smooth, clear plastic and is prone to fingerprints and smudges so expect it to be an area that will need cleaning. Having a clear/frosted outer shell and the attention to detail in making a black PCB with gold traces & writing definitely gets nerdy/techy points and is appreciated. It’s pleasing and cool to look at in my opinion. The RGB lighting, although neat, is distracting and not needed in my opinion. However, I can see how it would appeal to some people. I just turn it off while gaming but the level of detail in being able to modify it with the controller (color & brightness) is appreciated. The provided cable is a USB-C to USB-A braided cable with a decent length for me as I use it on my PC and I’m already near my computer. Other ======= Has two additional programmable buttons on the grips which can be set on the fly to match another button or sequence of buttons. I haven’t really used it but it’s nice to have the option and they’re easily accessible as well. The only way to improve this functionality would be to have four instead of just two. But for me, it’s more than fine as is at the moment. Has gyroscopic control which you can setup in the App software but it’s not something I’ve ever used so can’t really comment. Although, more features and functionality only continues to stack positives in its favor. Has a motor on each of the grips for rumble where the intensity can be modified on the controller itself just like the lighting which is nice. Has a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom which I haven’t used or tested so can’t really comment on this. I tried registering the product on their website but their form is broken and won’t submit. They don’t have a manual for this controller on their website yet as of writing and it takes you to their G7 controller instead. Update: GameSir informed me that they have forwarded the feedback of their broken product registration page to the relevant department. Hopefully they get that sorted out as it’s always bad optics when your website has broken areas. —— Overall, I’m more than satisfied with the purchase considering the competitive price point and that you get mechanical switches and hall effect sensors. There are a few things here and there that could definitely make it better but not enough that you can’t get used to. Now all we need is for everyone else to take note and provide options of controllers similar to that of keyboards where you have options beyond just membrane buttons and analog joysticks. Kudos GameSir for setting a great example of what can be done at a most excellent value.

   A 3 giorni dal ricevimento il controller è fantastico, bello esteticamente, comodo, leggero (non troppo) ma sopratutto PRECISO. Tramite l’applicazione apposita si può letteralmente trasformare in un PRO CONTROLLER e non serve a niente dire che per 50€ altre marche è già tanto se ti danno l’adesivo.    Been needing an Xbox PC gamepass remote for a while now. Did some research and gamesir kept popping up as a good remote. This one initially had good reviews so I figured I would try it. And so far, it’s been a great choice! I love how it feels, you can change vibration and colors and stick values, triggers, all that inside of a free software app. It’s actually pretty convenient. I’m used to a PS5 remote, and ps remote in general for most of my life lol Getting used to the stick layout on Xbox controller takes some getting used to lol All in all, if you’re on the search..I would def recommend this remote. Review from a serious hardcore gamer lol to other gamers out here!
