If you seat the right joy con all the way in you lose access to the R button. I had to keep mine slightly propped out to press it. The biggest issue is that lure movement for Fishing Star World Tour requires using the left joy con stick and cannot be reconfigured. Using this reel you are going to have a very difficult time using the L-stick sideways, especially after reeling and it being out of position. Just buy the game (it’s great) and half the price, joy cons by themselves work way better.

Saw the game without the rod and looked interesting but then I found this version with the rod included and I couldn’t resist not buying it. Instructions unclear though, I now have an aquarium of fish at home (literally).

This game is a blast for all ages, especially if you have active kids. Simple yet challenging enough. The variety of fish is enough for the family to have fun together. Unfortunately, one of the fishing controller’s knob(?), the part that you hold to rotate the reel, broke after a week of use, by a kid. It’s obvious the design is flawed. So now, we have to very carefully use the other knob. My advice is get the game separately and try a different fishing controller made by other company.

My son recieved this gift for Christmas. We have had it less than a week and it has broken in 4 places! 🤨 First one of the reel handles, then the top button, then the other reel handle and then the part that holds the bottom remote. It’s been only used in the game, no rough play. My husband and 8 year old son love the game, but now my son is upset because he loved the reel and can’t play the game as well. The reel is not high quality at all.
