I bought this game mostly as a fan of Fire Emblem, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover a gem of a game. The gameplay translates that of the Fire Emblem games well into Warriors. Battles are, on the outside, flashy and a blast to behold, but, on the inside, they employ nuanced thought and strategy. The story was pretty standard, but the interaction between this all star cast elevates the story into a fun experience to witness. There is also an extensive post game that will keep you entertained for months. It’s a shame that the game came out a week before Super Mario Odyssey because Fire Emblem Warriors is one of the best games for the Switch in 2017.

Fire Emblem motivated me to go out and purchase a Nintendo Switch as I loved the original series and games like Advanced Wars, XCom, and Banner Saga. Admittedly it is my fault for blindly and excitedly purchasing a Switch and Fire Emblem with doing zero research but I was super disappointed when I found myself in a 3rd person hack and slash game instead of the top down strategy game that I love. For those who are in it for the characters and universe and like this genre I am sure its a fine game and you can get more details from other reviews. If you are expecting a tactical strategy game you should look else where.

I got this to help myself learn more about the Fire Emblem universe leading up to Three Houses and it turned out to be a very fun game! It works great in co-op and my girlfriend and I beat the whole game together. Even after you beat the game there are tons of extra missions to do, so this game can last you a pretty long time. The battles are also very fun!

it’s a warriors game, if you like the style you like the style not much to say about it. If you’re just looking at it as a fire emblem fan with no experience with warriors games it may not be for you but the more strategic systems carried over from hyrule warriors with better AI as well as weapons triangle and similar systems certainly do go a long way to make it more inviting to fire emblem fans
