I am VERY excited about the Eiyuden Chronicle proper release. When I heard there would be an offshoot side story prequel thing coming out well ahead of the main release, I was pumped – especially since it promises extra goodies if you carry over your save data to the proper release (in classic Suikoden fashion)!
That said, this game is very nice to look at. Has some decent mechanics. And is basically a giant checklist of fetch quests that quickly becomes an exercise in perseverance. It’s not a bad game. It’s ok. But if you fear words like ‘tedious’, ‘monotonous’, ‘mindless’, or ‘grindfest’, you might do well to stay away.
I’ve enjoyed it enough, and will be glad I get my carry over bonus when the game I actually want to play comes out. But I doubt I’ll ever give this one another pass. It’s just. Real meh.

CJ, Garoo, and Isha play off each other well. + we need more happy go lucky characters like CJ.
Some may get bored with the fetch mechanics.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising feels cheap, rushed, and boring, like a cash grab trying to ride the hype of Hundred Heroes. If this game is any indication of what Hundred Heroes is going to be like, I’m sorry I backed it on Kickstarter. Unfortunately, I cannot return this garbage.

everything was as it should be!

“From the minds that gave you Suikoden I&II – the only games from the series you fans care about, we give you THIS!” Wow. What a let down. I played it on Steam last year and wow what a disappointment. It’s boring, plain and simple. The gameplay is trying too hard to NOT be what you’d expect (or want) and be super action battle MAX! The narrative is a snore and so is the gameplay, the best I can say is that the game does function and looks pleasant visually.
