When you first open the game it will be in chinese, however to fix this you need to make sure your nintendo switch system settings are set to english. After that you need to do the update and that update is a patch that allows for english subtitles and it fixes the main menu by making it appear in english. I have started playing and can confirm the patch works.

The first reviewer clearly didn’t download the updated patch that came shortly after release. I bought this game from playasia im december and by the time it got to my house an English patch update was available. I have attached photos to show the proof. The game was a lot of fun and a strong recommend for diehard rpg fans!

Great game wrong version/region.. be careful when purchasing this game because the (JPN) version does not support English subtitles even with the update. Make sure to get the Asian/Chinese version which does support English text and subtitles with an update.
