We were having some issues with our dock so I picked this up to see if we could connect the Switch to the TV while we tried to fix the dock. Luckily, we were able to figure out a way to get the OEM dock working but this portable dock will be great for travel and for playing the Switch in other rooms of the house. I’m not super savvy with connecting tv/audio/console equipment but was able to plug this in and get the Switch up and running in a few minutes. There were no instructions included but it seemed intuitive enough to just plug everything into the proper ports (we use HDMI) and had everything working without issue. Good price, no issues so far!

This dongle works just fine as a USB-C dongle. If you don’t mind not having your Switch docked, it works great to provide power and output to HDMI. It’s small enough to include in the switch case so you can bring it with you to a friend’s house. Power consumption is lower than with a typical dock. That’s probably because it only has one USB port, where other docks typically have 2 more (USB2.0). It’s a great addition to your bag.

I travel for work every week and felt like my Switch dock was going to end up getting broken in my bag, especially since it’s usually in my checked bag which we all know gets rough-handled by the airlines bag smashers. It works perfectly you will just need to bring your Nintendo power cable (since the Switch is picky about power cables), and an HDMI cable.

Due to the sturdy design of the dock, it is much less likely to break, and it takes up a lot less space. Now I can just leave the fragile Nintendo dock hooked up at home.

So I’ve used the more expensive Genki compact switch dock for years and this seems to preform just as well for much less money. This device has all the same features, but it fits way better into a stand travel case, it’s also lighter. I still like the really long Genki cable for charging my switch while using to, but I expect I’ll be using that cable with this dock from now on, because it’s just a lot more conveniently shaped. Updated review: I would be cautious using this product for long play sessions. I was using it for my bedroom for playing the new Tears of the Kingdom game and my device got very hot after several hours and the battery was at 1%. So my console was running hot and it wasn’t charging the battery, but the console never game me a low battery warning, because it was docked. Just be aware.

If you like me, you hate how big and bulky the switch dock is especially if you have a regular one with no details. I don’t feel like adding some stickers to it because I feel like it would make the value go down or something I don’t know.

Finding this was great because the way I have my gaming room set up I want to switch screen to be seen even if it’s not on and this makes it a lot easier for me to weigh my setup is

I ordered this to use when our grands visit. I didn’t realize that you need a wall charger with USB type C cable 15V/2.6A power supply for Nintendo Switch that supports TV mode in order for this (and other) travel chargers to work on the TV. I reached out to the seller, and they were very prompt in responding to my inquiry. It works well since I purchased the additional power supply cable.

For what it’s worth, this thing is basically a dongle for usb-c to hdmi, a usb-c power deposit. and usb 2.0. I tested the dongle with a Switch Oled and it works as advertised. Both HDMI and apower cable must be plug in, else it won’t work if it’s just HDMI. But then again, you can just get a good quality laptop dongle so that it can have better specs/speeds/ports to be used across devices and not just limited to the Switch. Keep in mind that in order for the Switch to go into dock mode it must be connected to a dongle that has a hdmi AND a power cable running power through it already, so you’d need a dongle with a power deposit (charging port). This dongle looks cool, but felt a bit cheap and it does get toasty when used for awhile. I’d prefer a dongle made of metal for better heat dissipation for long term usage. For kids, this is a good product as it is adorable design-wise. But for people looking for better value and performance, just invest in a good quality dongle (like Anker, UGreen, Uni, etc) to be used for multiple devices and not just the switch. I can only recommend this if it was under $8.
