Overview
- A long time ago, there was a great conflict between the evil god and the people. After a fierce battle, the people managed to seal off the evil god, but what was left behind was a desolate land. The people thus chose to abandon the land and live in the sky.
- Such fairy tales were passed down as legends. At this time, people had wings called Wings of the Heart and lived a peaceful life. It was an era of long-lasting tranquility… But the collapse had quietly already begun.
- When a young man calls upon the Guardian Spirt, the story begins to unfold. A story set on a floating continent in the sky, where thoughts and prayers intersect.
- In the world of “Baten Kaitos,” equipment, weapon, magic, items etc… possess “Magna Essence” that can be sealed on cards and return to their original form when needed. Those cards are called “Magnus” and are completely unique to these games.
- Each character has their own deck of “Magnus” cards which they can select to attack or heal. The attack power is determined by the attributes and the combination of the cards which are randomly dealt from the deck.

I still have my GC copies of these games I enjoyed them so much. This was a pleasant surprise considering how much I use my switch. It plays great. My only gripe is the English voice overs have been removed. Not a problem for me, I thought they were corny any. It’s just an issue for my kids who are just getting old enough to play a game like this. They get turned off by having to read a ton of subs so a patch would be nice. It plays beautifully!

It’s Baiten Kaitos, upscale to 1080p. Unfortunately the performance is all over the map. One moment it’s 60 fps the next it’s 25 fps with no rhyme or reason. Very disappointing.
None the less it’s nice to see this game re released physically and not trapped forever on GameCube!

I bought this planning to give it as a gift, but couldn’t confirm if it was a physical copy or not. I know in the US it didn’t get a physical copy, but some regions did. I couldn’t see anywhere on here if this was a code or a cart. When I got it, the back of the box states that it’s a code. So I’ll be returning it. I do know that these are great games if you have never played them though.

Decent remaster and a great way to enjoy two Gamecube classics. Although removal of the English voice could be seen as a negative, the voice acting wasn’t great and pales in comparison to the Japanese version.

Fidèle à l’originale c’était chouette d’y rejouer. J’ai découvert le volet 2 par contre que je ne connaissais pas du tout. Même univers mais fonctionnalités différentes. À mon sens plus complexe dans la gestion des combats mais du coup plus interessant.
J’ai mis un petit moment avant de m’y habituer ! Bonne surprise.

I remember playing these years ago. I was pleasantly surprised when this game was announced and released for the Nintendo Switch. I ordered the game and it arrived quick and undamaged. I didn’t play the game for quite a while, because I was building a backlog of games to play while deployed. However, I did in the end play and beat both games and found them just as fun as I remember them to be. I would say this RPG goes under the radar often when people discuss RPGs. I would recommend people to play this gem, especially for any avid RPG player.

I loved this game on the N64 but it didn’t have a huge audience back then. I was over the moon when they announced the remake on the switch. The combat is a combination of turn base and card fighter think MegaMan bn. This is a fantastic RPG that needs more attention. I don’t talk about story details but it’s an enjoyable one with stuff that works but have been done before. The issues it had with quality of life decisions in the N64 still remain to haunt the current remake but it’s nothing that breaks the fun. I hope people buy this because Nintendo have a habit of discontinuing their games and they can get expensive. But this one up and let’s hope they revive some more classics (custom robo).
