   Everything was going very well, but when I got it all closed up, my buttons weren’t all working. I’ve taken it off and they still all work, but putting it back on they stop working again, so I think I may have missed a step on the config after install. Will update when I get them working!

   This caused me a headache as was not aware I’d need a soldering iron to undertake the mod. Instruction video on YouTube would benefit from less repetitive actions (how to screw a screw) and better identification of parts especially where the ribbon cables and soldering points are concerned

   I bought a few of their products to upgrade my pro controller. Long story short, I received a faulty back button kit. Controller worked fine before I put it in. I put in the LED kit and these back buttons, and my main buttons (ABXY and Dpad and +- also home and screen shot) stoped working. I took out the LED still didn’t work. So I took the back buttons off and it worked! I then put the LEDS back in and still fine. I’m writing this less than 5 hrs after receiving my order and have asked for a replacement. But just off of manufacturing not impressed off of first impressions. I’ll update this review as this gets dealt with.

   Re-mappable back buttons/paddles is always nice on a controller. I have them on multiple controllers. These ones however, not terrific.

   They do allow mapping any button onto the back and do it well. Unfortunately, the spacing and positioning of the back buttons is not great. The outer buttons should be closer to the grips and a bit wider, similar to the PS5 RISE4 kit. The inner set can go right where the outer set is now.

   The biggest issue is the effect on battery life. My controller would have a week of battery for semi continuous use. This kit brought that down to a few days as the kit does not shut off with the rest of the controller. I would go to use my controller and find the battery drained dry. I couldn’t possibly enjoy my custom controller when the battery was always dead. If they could fix the battery issues and make it a bit more ergonomic, I might try another kit. For now, I recommend against buying it.

   Being a fan of Extremerate’s Dualsense back button kits, I expected more out of this Switch iteration. Unfortunately the ergonomics of the design are not very good. The back buttons lay on the unit itself rather than have paddles that extend out from it. What this does is force you to extend your fingers out to the middle of the controller and lift them a fair amount off of it. This makes for a very unnatural feel to use. Furthermore the inner buttons have no form of texture or groove to them to indicate when your fingers are resting on them. If you absolutely need back buttons on a native Switch Pro controller this is your only option, and techincally it gets the job done. However I’d recommend the Mobapad Elite or the 8Bitdo Ultimate (BT) instead.

   Update 3 & 4: Received a replacement board and now the joystick drift issue is gone with L3/R3 buttons soldered and remapping enabled. And after 100 hours into TotK the ergonomics feel better once you’re used to it. Update 2: Power concern confirmed. After charging my Switch Pro controller and put it aside for about 10 days, the battery drained. So this means the remap PCB is consuming power even if the controller is turned off. As comparison my DS5 with RISE4 still has battery after about 3 months idle time. Update: After about 10 hours of intensive use (mostly in Splatoon 3), I would like to change the rating from 3/5 to 1/5. The ergonomics are TERRIBLE. When playing games, you really need your middle fingers firmly stick to the back of the controller to get enough supporting grip. These bulky K1/K2 buttons totally ruined the experience by leaving HUGE empty spaces under your middle fingers. I would give the RISE4 for DS5 a 4.5/5 but this one for Switch Pro controller really deserves a 1/5. If anyone would like to buy and install this kit, try playing your favorite game while leaving a distance of about 1 inch from your middle fingers to the back of the controller. Keep playing for at least one hour and if you feel okay, this kit might work for you. Otherwise, I recommend other back button solutions. Pros: – Works just like the DualSense 5 RISE4 kit – Compatible with the L/R/ZL/ZR hair trigger kit from the same brand – Very smart utilization of the LED of the home button Cons: – Installation is a bit “messier” than that of the DS5 RISE4 kit. You might need a chisel/knife and some polishing to modify the controller case to make room for the FPC connectors so they don’t get bent too much – Bad ergonomics. The outer buttons (K1 and K2) are so thick that your fingers can’t find a comfortable place to rest. I prefer the design of the DS5 kit where K1 and K2 buttons are located on the inner side of the expansion board so the thickness is acceptable. – Battery life concerns. It seems that even with the controller turned off, I can still remap buttons. So I suppose the circuit is directly connected to the battery and stays alway-on (or standby) so the battery might get drained slowly

   The quality of the plastics could have been better. I’m not new to mod’s, this is basic level for myself. But works as it says, I’m pretty happy with the actual outcome. Just disappointed in plastic quality.

    There was a particular game that was about to be released and I figured why not. I’ve been enjoying eXtreme rate back button add-ons on other consoles and they always been a hit. This is a very wallet friendly option for those that want a little extra out of their Officially 1st party Gamepads. While I wouldn’t exactly call it easy to install, as the soldering options takes a little bit more know how than opening up a game pad and plugging things into place. These back buttons add a more ergonomic design to your Gamepads existing main board. With the addition of th weight eXtreme rate chip you can any button to the the back button giving you more comfort to use buttons while you’re controlling the dual analog sticks. It is an an all in one set which comes with everything you need even a back plate to replace the original with one that allows the seating of the back buttons. Overall this has been an easy to do experience and has made gaming on the console more versatile especially for those that can’t reach those buttons in general. There is a step by step installation videon on that popular video sharing page that details the full installation along with the soldering tips. The only thing the video failed to mentioned is if you’re not going to solder flick the little switch to the opposite side on the back button chip board. However if you solder solder you can leave it as it. Great product overall.
