   I love this game immensely! From crafting to finding new ways to complete the Pokedex entries. Yes, in this story, you are completing the first ever Pokedex (does that make Oak like Edison?). But it’s more than that. Side missions of various intentions. Some are about catching a Pokemon to show them or their completed Pokedex entry. Some revolve around the unique traits of a certain Pokemon (Request 36 is my favorite), such as Request 73. Leif, Duna, and Tarush are having a serious debate on which is the real Burmy, but only because they’ve only seen one version each of its three cloaks of grass, sand, or trash. So, you gotta find all three and show them they’re all correct. The Ride Pokemon is seamless, and pressing Left or Right on the D-Pad switches instantly between rides. You can glide through maps with ease once you get all of them, but each one makes the journey easier. All in all…WHY DONT YOU HAVE IT YET??

   Haven’t played the game much to write a review about it. But it came in a perfectly packed condition and seems original.

   This game is amazing! I’ve played it for about 17 hours so far, since release day yesterday. Here’s what I’ve seen so far. Pros- 1. Mostly open world which is really nice. 2. You can interact with lots of NPCs and they don’t all look the same. 3. You can battle wild pokemon or just throw a ball at them. 4. You can do all kinds of side quests outside of your main quest. 5. Character clothing and hair is changeable. 6. Rideable pokemon. 7. The option to either craft or purchase pokeballs, revives, potions, etc. 8. Alphas are amazing and HUGE. 9. Graphics are nice and everything has been smooth running so far. Cons- 1. Limited inventory space. You do have storage at your dwelling and camps though. You can expand your bag for a price. 2. No ability to jump with character despite areas that it would be very beneficial. 3. No option to let a pokemon walk with you outside of the ball. Notable things that I’m neutral on- 1. No gyms 2. There doesn’t seem to be the option to customize your dwelling. 3. You can’t swim. You get a mount that does later in the game. I’ll update as I play more. I’m sure I missed a few things here. Overall really worth it and made really well.

   Now I haven’t enjoyed a Pokémon game since Black 2/White 2. So from 2013 with XY to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in 2021 I’ve had either a lukewarm reception to their games or downright couldn’t finish them without forcing myself to. Game Freak’s jump to 3D and HD has not been very pretty. From awful size scaling to gimmicks that came and went, to ludicrously bad stories, I had no faith in them ever getting better, especially as people would lap up whatever they churned out. That all changed when they revealed this game. A game set in the past where Pokémon are far more dangerous and fully explorable. That’s when I knew Nintendo probably stepped in, especially when they had Game Freak move into their HQ a year prior. This game has been something I’ve wanted since I was a child and boy did it deliver. Varying size scaling, an engaging story, battles can occur nearly anywhere you go, and so, so much more. I hope they stick with this formula when they return to modern era gen 9. I’d write more but I really want to get back to the game, already at 90 hours. All in all, as one of Game Freak’s biggest haters, go and get this game. It is worth it.
