Do NOT buy this on switch. It runs SO bad. I am 27 hours in and it froze 4 times during a load screen and once when I went to talk to a random NPC the game flat out crashed. The framerate is abysmal even in performance mode. I wanted this handheld and I wish I bought it on PS5 (I like physical games but steam wouldve worked too). The only reason I didn’t 1 star is because the game was fun while it lasted and akiya-switch.com delivery was fine. I am not far enough into the game to really experience it fully but too far to want to start over. What a joke!!!

JRPG with 120 characters to find and recruit. Like Pokémon but they’re people and you get a castle for them to populate. 120ish hours of content if you do everything. 2 different endings

This game is a true masterpiece, from the music, dialogue, plot, character development and pacing, it’s one of the best jRPGs to ever come to planet Earth. The quality even comparable to suikoden 2 my other favorite game of my life .. this game brings me so much happiness… Thank you so so much to the team that made this for the world!!

How is the Switch version of this game such an unoptimized, borderline unplayable, horrible mess? I got the Steam version originally in the Kickstarter campaign and decided later that I wanted to play it on Switch instead. Holy hell, it’s awful. A loading screen every time you enter or exit combat? Really?! In the menus there’s a 3-5 second delay to enter the menus and then just switching between menus. A loading screen just about anytime you transition into any other room or area. These are things that are almost instant on any other platform for this game. The framerate is awful, it’s bad even when you put the game on performance mode. I understand it’s Switch and the hardware isn’t the most powerful out there, but come on… This isn’t a bad game, but the Switch version sucks. I’ve seen games far more complicated and graphically intense run so much better than this on Switch. There’s no excuse for it. Sheer laziness to properly optimize the game for the platform. I feel really ripped off and can’t even return the game now since it’s been opened.

Update / Edit: A big new performance patch rolled out at the end of July 2024. I have not had the time to go back and play since then to test the game out, but I figured it prudent to update my information accordingly.
Prior Review: If you’re going to buy this game do it on another platform. The game is not optimized for Switch which causes the User Interface (UI) to take forever to load and switch between menu options, and it crashes constantly. The few patches the Switch version has gotten do not appear to be addressing the performance and stability issues. The game itself seems really fun, with what little it lets me play through, before crashing at the same point repeatedly. Cannot recommend this version at this point in time.
