I love this! I was an Intellivision kid in the late 70’s and most of the 80’s but I still dabbled in Atari. This is a masterpiece of Atari history. People complain about the games and packaging but it’s a minor gripe of mine. I know game selection is effected by copyrights, but the cardboard wrap on the steel book is definitely a sore spot for collectors. I knew this issue when buying and my plan worked great. After removing the cellophane I carefully separated the cardboard at the glue flap. It separated nicely and undamaged. I then used some new glue and loosely wrapped the steel book to glue the flaps back together. You’d never know it was modified and I can easily slide the sleeve off.

Absolutely love this collection for the games and the priceless information about the history of video games, it’s like you are playing along with a documentary.
Incredible value as many of these games are rare and hard to find, also the reimagined games are top notch and very addictive. I give it 10/10 highly recommended.

I grew up with Atari and all the retro gaming consoles. I played these games back then and enjoying them with me kids now. There SteelBook looks great. However, akiya-switch.com shipped it in the same bag with a pack of 50 washers. The SteelBook got dented a bit, so I want too happy about that (two stars less for the packing/shipping).

First off Kudos to the software directors/ designers, that really went all out to capture the history of Atari, via a very well thought out branching menu system that includes great interactivity and embedded historical videos, nostalgic stories and interview clips.
The cool thing here is that the games library somewhat differs from the prior released 150 game collection from 3 years ago (which was also very good due to the sheer amount of games)…..and the reimagined games are pretty damn good (dare I say, a step up from the originals). The steel book is very cool looking with its gold sheen. The whole package is a great homage to my childhood. Well done.
It would have been cool if they included an original Atari game booklet/manual that summarized the games in the collection, but I guess I’ll take the nostalgic poster they provided, even though it is something you can’t put on the wall….. Not a big fan of folded posters that crease.

Great presentation and lots of interesting interviews are a highlight of this collection. Unlockable games (even if they aren’t much to write home about) are mostly rewards for checking out the new reimagined games made by Digital Eclipse themselves. The games here are mostly your standard fare for Atari collections, but there are some gems here, including unreleased prototypes and a brand new release also made by Digital Eclipse and using the concepts from the original designer (SwordQuest: Airworld)
I’m especially happy for the small but generally good selection of Lynx and Jaguar games. If you’re an Atari fan or just a fan of learning about the industry and its history, I cannot recommend this enough.
As a note: Yes, the slipcover was very difficult to get off, but I managed to get it off without damaging the steelbook or the slip cover. Take your time and be patient with it.

Atari 50 was crafted with love for all things Atari. It’s a game collection, museum, and treasure hunt. The interviews are great and include such Atari icons as David Crane and Howard Scott Warshaw. The Steelbook edition adds that extra touch of class, though the only thing added to the package is a poster. If you are an Atari fan or are curious about Atari, do yourself a favor and pick up this game on your favorite gaming platform. You won’t be sorry.

Excellent collection. This is how all game collections should be done. Awesome game. Gives you history on how Atari came to be.
Side note, I think it is ridiculous that someone gives a 1 star review for the steelcase being hard to get out of the cardboard. The steelcase is beautiful.

This is hands down EXACTLY what Atari needed to make after all these years for its 50th anniversary. Love letter to the birth of video game culture, it’s like journeying into a playable museum. New interviews from Atari staff, tons of flyers and promo art. BIG APPLAUSE to Digital Eclipse for NAILING the controls (that is a major victory I want to highlight, every game is playable). Only nitpick is I ordered the steel book edition, LOVE the gold steel book (stands out proudly amongst my Switch collection), LOVE the poster, but you must be aware that the sleeve that covers the steel book is WAY TOO TIGHT, the sleeve is cracking on the corners it’s so tight, most people will want to use that sleeve to keep the beautiful steel book scratch free for as long as they can since this is an AMAZING collection and it really has set a new standard on game compilations and ports. BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO ATARI AND DIGITAL ECLIPSE!!!👏👏🕹👏👏

Despite the special edition only including a steel book and poster, I still think it’s worth the tiny bit of extra cash. The steel book makes the game feel premium and like a momentous occasion. The game itself is excellent, and Its probably the best game compilation I’ve ever seen. I cannot reccomend this enough, Atari went above and beyond with the 50th collection, well worth the money.

Recomendado aunque no hallas crecido en la era de Atari, tiene un tipo museo digital y los juegos son muy buenos !

Loved my Atari 2600 in the 70’s. Such a great collection of games and a nice cartridge case to just show off.

Overall the product looks great, and the overall game is better than I anticipated (I honestly had low expectations).
The slip cover, as others have stated, is created with literally 0 tolerance. It actually arrived partially damaged/warped along edges due to how much of a stranglehold it has on the steelbook. Definitely will break if you try to keep it on the case and remove it when you want to play the game. An absolute shame really, it’s like they didn’t measure properly/plan for that small amount of wriggle room it needs, and then decided to just not correct it when they realized the error and just shoved it on still.
